SIVERTSON, Howard "Buddy" Arthur

Howard "Buddy" Arthur Sivertson was born on May 31st 1930 to Arthur & Myrtle [Bjorlin] Sivertson in Duluth, Minnesota. He was born into a Lake Superior commercial fishing family, spending summers on Isle Royale and attending school in Duluth in the winters. 

Buddy graduated from Denfeld High School.and then from Minneapolis School of Art & Design. He married Doris Elaine [Lindbeck] on July 2nd 1952 and they started a family.

Mr. Sivertson enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 26th 1952 during the Korean War. Due to his art and design training he was assigned as an artist for the Navy. He did cartoons, various graphics, and painting portraits of high-ranking officers. 

He was honorably discharged on February 9th 1954. After his service he returned home to northern Minnesota where he resumed his love of painting. He was a well reknown artist with galleries in Duluth and Grand Marais that he started with his daughter.

Mr. Sivertson died on January 4th 2023 at 92 years of age in Silver Bay, Minnesota.
