Mr. Powell served during the Global War on Terror.

He served in the 477th Medical Company, a local Army Reserve unit, from 1983 through August 1996 as a Medical Specialist.

He served on active duty in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991.

He was born on February 13, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Odie and Mary (Silas) Powell. He graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1982.

Mr. Powell died at the age of 43 in Duluth, Minnesota, on January 23, 2008.
