Bert Edward Hoyer was born October 28th 1980, in Red Wing, Minnesota to Larry John & Peggy A. [Kline] Hoyer. He was a 1999 graduate of Ellsworth High School and was enrolled at the Vermillion Community College in Ely when he joined the service,
He entered the U.S. Army in 2001. He was assigned to Reserve, 652nd Engineer Company. During his time at service Bert was promoted to the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4)
SP4 Hoyer received the Army Service Medal and the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal.
He was killed on Wednesday, March 10th 2004 in the service of his country in Ba'Quba, Iraq. He felt it was his duty and privilege to serve his country, and was ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice.
He was 23 years of age when he dies. He is buried at Our Saviors Lutheran Church Cemetery in Beldenville, Wisconsin.
