Peter A. Rich, III
Era: Cold War
Military Branch: Army
Rich was a Lieutenant Colonel with the Army, and served from June 7, 1972 to September 28, 1998.
He tells his own story:
"I served in the US Army for 26 years. During that time, I had three overseas assignments. Two were with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany from 1973 – 1976 and 1980 – 1983. The other was with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, from 1986 – 1987. While in Germany, I stood on the Inter – German border, separating the East form the West. While in Korea, I stood on the Demilitarized Zone, separating North and South Korea. Both of these experiences reinforced in my mind why our nation needs a strong military, and why I was a soldier in the Army."
