Asa Daily

Asa Daily was not a native of Duluth, but was a resident by 1871.

Prior to that he was in A Company, 30th Wisconsin Regiment of the GAR. For a period of time, he operated a lumberyard, and then operated a sawmill. In 1893, He became Deputy Auditor for St. Louis County. After the Court House was completed, in November, 1909, he was named custodian of Memorial Hall.

It was this position in which he derived most of his satisfaction, for herein, he researched and compiled over 300 names of veterans of St. Louis County that fought in the Civil War. (Van Brunt, 2:615-616, 3:1106)
