Robert J. Lindberg of Duluth, Minnesota was enlisted in the Naval Reserve on May 15, 1944.
He was a Baker 3rd Class, a deckhand and a wheelsman on the USS Cecil(APA 96) in the Pacific Theater.
He "participated in D-Day assault on Iwo Jima and witnessed flag-raising and participated in D-Day landing on Okinawa."
Mr. Lindberg received the: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal (Japan) with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal, 5th Unit Citation and World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on May 13, 1946 at Minneapolis, Minn.
