Bennie Joseph Jeanetta, Jr. entered the U. S. Army on February 10th 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.
He served as a Private First Class (PFC) with the 125th Field Artillery, 3rd Division, 7th Army in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, and Germany. He served under General Patton and Bradley.
He declined a field commission and had more combat than any in his battalion. For his was he was awarded the following:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
- Croix De Guerre with palm, -and-
- five overseas service bars.
PFC Jeanetta was honorably discharged on May 23rd 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He died on August 23rd 1989 at 66 years of age. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Duluth.
