Richard L. Forsythe served during the Korean War.

Mr. Forsythe joined the Air Force in September 1952. He was assigned to a Military Police unit in England and was stationed at two air bases, Elkinberry and Skulthorpe.
Mr. Forsythe was discharged in September 1956.
His rank was Airman 1st Class.
He was born in 1933, in Delta, Wisconsin, the son of Leonard and Hilda Forsythe. He graduated from Iron River High School in 1952.

“My commanding officer (CO) said he didn’t want to send me to Korea, so I went to England instead, to guard the U2 spy planes at Elkinberry Air Force Base, in northern England. Jimmy Stewart, the actor, was one of the officers there, and I saw him twice.
“After four years of being gone, I was sent back to the U.S. The Statue of Liberty was the most beautiful sight I’d seen in four years! I was so glad to be home again!”
