NOTICE OF VACANCY ON THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

AND VACANCY ON THE VETERANS MEMORIAL HALL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

St. Louis County Historical Society, 506 W. Michigan St., Duluth, Minnesota, announces two openings on its Board of Governors, and two openings on its Veterans Memorial Hall Advisory Committee.  The mission statement of the Society is as follows:

The general nature and purpose of the Society shall be the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge about the history and prehistory of St. Louis County and the State of Minnesota.

The Society is seeking applicants for service on its Board of Governors from the Duluth area and from greater St. Louis County for election by the Membership at the April 24, 2018 Annual Meeting of the Membership.

An interest in history, familiarity with nonprofit governance and fundraising experience are highly desirable.  An ideal candidate would have time available to commit to preparing for and attending regular meetings, and otherwise effectively and consistently participate in governing the organization, as well as generally enhancing its operations and promoting its mission.  The ability to work constructively and cooperatively with Society staff and other members of the Board of Governors is essential.

Veterans Memorial Hall Program is a joint projects of the St. Louis County Historical Society and United States military service veterans of northeastern Minnesota.  Its mission is to gather, preserve, interpret and promote the rich and diverse human experiences of veterans, their families and communities through museum, archival and educational programs.
